that will work for you!
Health Insurance Marketplace/On-Exchange Options
- The Health Insurance Marketplace (also known as the Exchange) is a service where individuals and families can shop for and buy health insurance. The Marketplace was created under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to provide more affordable coverage options for those who do not get insurance through their employer. Depending on your income, you might qualify for subsidies (also known as Premium Tax Credits) that can lower your premium costs.
Off-Exchange Options (Private Insurance)
- Off-Exchange Health Insurance Plans refer to individual health insurance policies purchased directly from private insurers, outside of the Health Insurance Marketplace. While these plans do not qualify for subsidies or premium tax credits available to Marketplace plans, they still offer comprehensive coverage and may sometimes be available at a more competitive price.
The Bottom Line
The Health Insurance Marketplace allows individuals and families to shop for affordable health insurance, with potential subsidies to lower premium costs based on income.
Off-Exchange Health Insurance refers to plans purchased directly from private insurers outside of the Marketplace. While these plans do not offer subsidies, they still provide comprehensive coverage and may sometimes be available at a more competitive price.
